RGMII In-Band Status (IBS)
This device supports RGMII In-Band Status (IBS) when connected to a PHY that also supports IBS. With IBS, the PHY
sends link up/down status, link speed status (represented as RGMII clock speed) and link duplex status across the
RGMII to the MAC (this switch). This allows this RGMII port to adapt automatically to the speed and duplex of the PHY,
eliminating the need for an external management device to monitor the PHY and program the switch port accordingly,
or the need to restrict the PHY to a fixed speed and duplex. IBS is enabled by strapping LED2_0 high. If the RGMII port
is not connected to a PHY, or if the PHY doesn't support IBS, then IBS must be disabled by strapping LED2_0 low. This
can also be controlled by writing to bit 2 in the XMII Port Control 1 Register. The RGMII port will not function properly if
IBS is enabled in the switch, but it is not receiving in-band status from a connected PHY. The in-band status can be
monitored in the XMII Port Control 3 Register register.
