12 / 41 page  WM8170 Product Preview Rev 1.0 WOLFSON MICROELECTRONICS LTD PP Rev 1.0 March 2000 12 SYSTEM INFORMATION The WM8170 is a complete signal processing and data acquisition system which is designed to interface directly to the analogue output of area array CCDs. The device digitises the video signals from the CCD for subsequent digital processing of the data. The WM8170 can be used in a wide range of CCD-based video applications such as digital still cameras, as shown in Figure 7.
