30 / 82 page  Card configuration SMCxxxAF 30/82 6 Card configuration The CompactFlash memory card is identified by information in the card information structure (CIS). The card has four Configuration registers (Table 23 and Table 24). ● Configuration Option register ● Pin Replacement register ● Card Configuration and Status register ● Socket and Copy register They are used to coordinate the I/O spaces and the Interrupt level of cards that are located in the system. In addition, in I/O Card mode these registers provide a method for accessing status information that would normally appear on dedicated pins in Memory Card mode. The location of the Card Configuration registers should always be read from the CIS.These registers cannot be used in True IDE mode. No writes should be performed to the attribute memory except to the Configuration register addresses. All other attribute memory locations are reserved. See Section 6.5: Attribute memory function.
