The NS7520 supports two independent universal asynchronous/synchronous receiver/transmitter

channels. Each channel supports these features:

Independent programmable bit-rate generator

UART and SPI (master) modes

High-speed data transfer:

x1 mode: 4Mbits/sec

x16 mode: 230 Kbits/sec

32–byte TX FIFO

32–byte RX FIFO

Programmable data format: 5–8 data bits; odd, even, or no parity; 1, 2 stop bits

Programmable channel modes: normal, local loopback, remote loopback

Control signal support

Maskable interrupt conditions:

Receive break detection

Receive framing error

Receive parity error

Receive overrun error

Receive FIFO ready

Receive FIFO half-full
